Umbilical Cord Ties

Goodbye hard plastic, hello soft fibers!

+Did you know that you can ditch the hard plastic umbilical cord clamp, and opt for a soft umbilical cord tie instead?

+Cord ties are soft fibers that are woven, knitted, or crocheted in colors or designs of your choice.

+ Cord ties are easy to sterilize and keep clean for births.

+They are used exactly as a plastic clamp is, however, a tie is softer and gentler against a newborns skin.

+A cord tie is often left on the umbilical stump until it dries up and falls off, making this pair a unique keepsake.

+Cord ties are mostly used in out of hospital births.

+Although not commonly used in hospitals in the US, you can always start a conversation with your provider about why you would like to use a cord tie instead!

This is a cord tie my oldest kiddo made while waiting for baby number seven to arrive.
